Text link menus at the bottom of the pages enhance the accessibility of other pages, but they also serve a larger purpose in SEO. An effectively-linked web page helps both the reader and SEO spiders to go from one page to another. There are other various navigation formats like breadcrumbs, contextual links, site maps, and call to action links. However, text link navigation in the footer is designed with search engine spiders in mind. As page footers, they do not have to be placed under the overall design scheme that other text links need to be placed (i.e. sidebar links). Footer text links allow you to place high ranking keywords as part of your site navigation without being obtrusive to user experience. This means that you can place a staple of text links at the bottom of every page. With a correct structure search engines will have a better idea what different pages are all about.
