People are innundated with email -- much of it spam.  So they have developed many barriers and protections to keep e-mail accounts spam-free, there are people who sign up for emails that promote their site's products and services.  These subscribers want to know more about the offers and information from sites they visit. They expect to information on their interests and the new areas in the market they have chosen.  The students I coach at my website know this well.
